Vintage Casio 50M Chrono Sonar AL-190W digital wristwatch fitted with Module 3274. A highly collectible vintage Casio model presented in very good overall condition. The watch has been well preserved over the years, with only minor signs of age. The original strap shows some age-related wear but remains fitted to the watch. The watch requires a replacement EECE0EL205N capacitor, as the original capacitor has reached the end of its service life and is no longer functioning. The timekeeping and chronograph functions have been tested and operate correctly when powered via the Sonar charging system. However, due to the failed capacitor, the watch cannot retain power and therefore requires a new capacitor before normal operation can be restored. An increasingly difficult model to find in such well-preserved cosmetic condition, making it an excellent addition for Casio collectors or a rewarding restoration project. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. Introduced during the late 1980s, the Casio AL-190W Chrono Sonar was one of Casio’s innovative solar-assisted digital watches. Instead of relying solely on a conventional battery, the watch used Casio’s “Sonar” charging system, combining a rechargeable capacitor with a solar panel to extend operating life. The Module 3274 offered practical everyday functions including time, chronograph, alarm and calendar while showcasing Casio’s pioneering approach to energy-saving technology. Today, surviving examples have become increasingly collectible, particularly those retaining their original components and display in good cosmetic condition. One of the most common issues affecting these watches is the failure of the original rechargeable capacitor after decades of use, making replacement a routine part of restoration.
