Military Nero Lemania Photo Gun Camera Watch An extremely unusual and rare military Lemania watch, the exact purpose of which has never been conclusively identified. Over the years, these pieces have been discussed as possibly being connected with military photo gun camera equipment or another specialist military application, although no definitive documentation has been found to confirm this with certainty. What is known is the provenance. Approximately 40 years ago, three identical examples entered our collection directly from a military unit. This particular watch is one of those three original pieces and is now being offered for sale. The other examples remain part of the wider history of this unusual military find. Despite considerable research, the precise function of these watches remains unresolved. That uncertainty is part of what makes the piece so interesting. It is clearly not a standard commercial wristwatch, but a specialised military Lemania watch with an unusual construction and purpose. This example remains in untouched, as-found condition. Apart from the crown/stem being inserted, it has not been restored, polished or cosmetically improved. It has been preserved much as it was found, giving the next owner the opportunity to restore, service or conserve it according to their own preference. The movement appears complete and does not show immediately obvious signs of major damage, although servicing, inspection and possible repair should be expected. The case shows significant age, wear and surface condition issues consistent with military use and long-term storage, and would benefit from restoration if desired.
