Original British Military Dirty Dozen Record stainless steel watch case set, comprising the mid-case and case back only. The case remains in honest military-used condition with overall good appearance. It retains solid lugs and all original British military issue markings. Please note that the inner retaining ring (crystal retaining ring/glass holder) is not included . This listing is for the mid-case and case back only. The military serial number stamped on one of the lugs does not match the serial number found on the case back. It is worth noting that during military service, British Army watches were routinely repaired and serviced by military workshops. Keeping watches operational was considered more important than preserving matching components, and it was common practice for service centres to interchange case backs, hands, crowns and other serviceable parts between watches when required. As a result, mismatched case backs are a well-documented and accepted characteristic found on many genuine military-issued watches today. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. Record was one of the twelve Swiss manufacturers selected to produce the famous WWW (Watch, Wristlet, Waterproof) watches supplied to the British Ministry of Defence during the Second World War. These military wristwatches were built to a strict government specification and designed for reliability under field conditions. Original Record cases with their military issue markings remain highly sought after by collectors restoring authentic Dirty Dozen watches.
